Local Diocese Investigates Firing of Professor at University of Illinois

The American Papist reports that the Diocese of Peoria is making inquiries of the University of Illinois over the firing of Dr Ken Howell after the latter was dismissed for representing the Church's teaching regarding the gay lifestyle (this done in the context of a Catholic studies course).

At least they are taking notice of this matter and letting the University (and the world at large) know that they are taking this matter seriously.  Clearly that is an improvement over the dismissive attitude portrayed by the Diocese of St Cloud after Professor PZ Myers of the University of Minnesota (Morris) drove a rusty nail through the Eucharist (and some pages of the Koran - he's an "equal opportunity" buffoon) and threw all in the trash amidst much internet fanfare two years ago.

Let us pray that the Diocese of Peoria has the tenacity to see the matter through and to come to the defense of the Faith.

  1. The Foundation for Individual Rights in Education has intervened to support Professor Howell's rights: http://www.thefire.org/article/12064.html
